Bathala Caves

Boac, Marinduque

A network of seven limestone caves in barangay Ipil hides underground streams, glittering crystal formations and colonies of bats. One chamber holds ancient bones and a resident python long regarded by locals as the cave's guardian, lending Bathala an air of myth.

Best time to visit

Dry season (November–May); always go with a local guide and a headlamp.

How to get there

About 30–40 minutes by tricycle or private vehicle from Boac town proper to barangay Ipil, then a short trek to the cave mouths.
